What you actually get

Parametric models, not fixed shapes
Dimensions are driven by parameters, so changing a bore or a wall thickness updates the model rather than starting it again. That matters on revision three, which there always is.
Files your supplier can use
STEP for machining and injection moulding, STL for printing, DXF for laser and waterjet, and dimensioned drawings with tolerances for anyone quoting the job.
Reverse engineering
A broken original, a part nobody makes any more, or something measured with callipers turned into a clean model you own the file for.
Design for how it gets made
Draft angles, wall thickness, overhangs, tolerances and fits, considered for the process actually being used. Most manufacturing problems are file problems.

Can you model a part I only have a physical sample of?
Yes, that is common. Measured with callipers, modelled parametrically, then a test print to confirm fit before anything goes to manufacture.
Which file format do I need?
STEP for machining and moulding, STL for 3D printing, DXF for flat cutting. If you are not sure, tell me who is making it and I will send what they need. Suppliers rarely ask twice for a well-packaged set.
Do I get the source files?
Yes. Source file, exports and drawings, all yours. You are not locked into me for the next revision, which is the point.
Can you design it so it is cheaper to manufacture?
That is most of the value. Wall thickness, part count, draft angles, whether it can be printed instead of tooled at your volume. Design decisions set the unit cost long before anyone quotes you.
Do you print it as well?
Yes, in-house, which shortens the loop considerably. Model, print, check the fit, adjust, print again, all inside a day rather than a week of postage.
