Neighbourhood Wash
The UK's first peer-to-peer laundry platform. The Uber of laundry, connecting people to nearby washers, built entirely by me.
Neighbourhood Wash
The UK's first P2P laundry platform.
The build
Neighbourhood Wash is a simple idea with a genuinely hard build behind it: people with laundry meet people with washing machines. A true two-sided marketplace, matching, trust, bookings, payments, all of it engineered from scratch.
I built the entire platform solo, both sides of the marketplace and everything in between. Three roles, customer, washer, and admin, a full booking lifecycle from request to review, Stripe payments with saved cards and webhooks, real-time messaging between the two sides, and a proper GDPR and legal framework underneath it all.
It's live and in its growing stages, and it's exactly the kind of build I love: a real-world problem, a proper platform behind it, and no shortcuts.

Technically engineered.
The decisions that make this build hold up.
- 01
A full two-sided booking lifecycle
Request, washer assignment, service, payment, review, every state tracked with full history. Guests can book without an account and convert later, so the funnel never forces a signup before the value.
- 02
Payments done properly
Stripe PaymentIntents with saved payment methods and webhook-driven state, so a payment succeeding, failing, or being cancelled updates the booking automatically. Washer earnings tracked per job.
- 03
Real-time messaging and notifications
Customers and washers talk inside the platform over a realtime channel, with transactional email handled by dedicated edge functions for every lifecycle moment, welcomes, summaries, reminders.
- 04
Borough-level local SEO
A London-borough service-area model with dedicated landing pages for eight boroughs, so the platform ranks where the washers actually are.
- 05
The legal framework nobody sees
GDPR consent tracking, cookie consent, audit logs, and security logging, built in from the start because a marketplace holding people's addresses doesn't get to improvise compliance.
